James William Denmark Papers, 1875-1921

This collection contains biographical information and two photographs of Denmark. Papers relating to the North Carolina Baptist Student Aid Association include 3 copies of the constitution, Mar. 30, 1875, a copy of the charter presented to the legislature in 1877, notes on other college funds, a list of the Board of Directors, a letter from Denmark's brother Stephen expressing some doubts over the establishment of the fund (1877), a letter from Denmark to a Miss Eller about the formation of the student loan fund (1910), and a letter from Professor J.H. Gorrell thanking Denmark for his contribution and enclosing his report as treasurer of the fund (1925). The collection also included an 1880 Wake Forest Commencement invitation, a copy of the college alumni association constitution, and a form letter from Denmark relating to the Progressive Farmer (1893).
